Our custom cabinetry process

Deciding on what sort of cabinetry you want can be a daunting process, whether it’s a small job like robe inserts or a full designer kitchen cabinetry renovation. At MRT Cabinets, we will walk you through the process, from design and function through to material and colour selections.

Step 1: Planning

If you have an idea of what you are after and some rough measurements, simply drop into our Geelong showroom and we can go through your ideas and give advice on what we might see that will make your custom-built cabinets functional and stylish.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the project, we can always make a time to drop in and go through ideas in your home.

This is also when you need to decide whether you would like us to supply flat pack cabinetry for a DIY project, or if you would like us to install it for you.

Step 2: Colour and finish selection

Once we have a design that we are working to, we need to know what sort of look you are after and colours and finishes you would like. This will help us give you the most accurate quote.

Step 3: Receiving our quote and viewing the drawings

Once we have the basic measurements and layout of your project, we will provide you with a detailed quote based on all the information gathered. If you are happy with the quote, we can book a time with you to come into the showroom and go through the plans we have drawn up. This will also give you a chance to view the design in 3D so you can see precisely how it will look.

Step 4: Quote acceptance and site measure

If you are happy with the design and the price and wish to go ahead with the project, we will get you to sign off on the plans and quote and then organise a site measure. This is when we will get precise measurements of your space and double-check the design with you.

At this stage we will also need you to provide any appliance details that are applicable to the job. After the site measure we will make any required minor adjustments to your custom designer cabinets to ensure everything fits properly.

Step 5: Production and pick-up or delivery

Once we have completed the site measure and everything is signed off, we will start production of your custom-built cabinets. This will generally take 10-15 business days, depending on the size of the project.

If your project is a DIY, we will package each cabinet together, as well as all of the hardware needed, and have it ready for pick-up or deliver it to your home.

If we are installing the job, we will assemble the custom-built cabinets in our factory and arrange a time for us to install the cabinets and deliver them the same day.

Step 6: Enjoy

Whether for a new kitchen or for more storage in the garage, it’s now time to enjoy putting your new, custom designer cabinets to good use.
